Saturday 23rd April in Midsomer Norton dawned grey and drizzly but wasn’t able to damp the spirits of all those who helped with the St. George’s Day Fayre at the Methodist Church Centre.
Everyone had been very busy the previous evening setting up the stalls which included plenty of home made cakes, toys, books and good-as-new clothes as well as an enormous amount of bric-a brac. Rev. David Watson was seen sorting through the boxes to see if there were any items worthy of the Antiques Roadshow! The hall was decorated with as many St George’s flags and Union Jack’s as could be found and many of the stallholders joined in with the theme, including Jim Eyles whose outfit seemed only to be missing a sword and dragon!
SMASH once again were operating their car wash from Mendip Engineering and worked tirelessly throughout the day to clean all of the cars. For many of the Church members this could be the only clean their cars get until the Christmas Bazaar!
Lunches and refreshments were once again provided by BFG who carried on regardless of various problems with the electrical equipment.
Of course the bad weather did affect the number of visitors who came to the fayre but everyone was pleased to hear at the end of the day that the total stood at £2029.02 in aid of Church funds.
Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work!
