NCH Sponsored Walk 2004

It was a lovely morning when only 4 of us turned up for the annual Sponsored Walk. But not letting numbers deter us, off we set to walk from the Church, down to Welton, walking parallel with the Greenway for a short time, then onto the Old Fosse Road leading us into Clandown Bottom.

We progressed to Top Road in Paulton and down through Withy Mills, where we decided to have our lunch-stop in a field called Middleground.
Seated nicely on tree stumps, out came our Lunch boxes and flasks. Just as we started eating, along came a very inquisitive horse, followed by several others.
The first horse had his nose in Kathy Dymond’s lunch box looking for a treat, and he would not take no for an answer, so we had to make a dash for the next field with horses in hot pursuit!
Having eaten our lunch and feeling refreshed, off we went again to follow our footpath through the back of Brittens and over to Paulto Hill, crossing by the spring, where a dip of our hands into the icy water was very refreshing.

We then followed the path again leading us to Salisbury Road, walking along the side of Bloomfield Residential Home and down through the fields running along side the Coal Tip (Batch) working our way down towards Thicketmead and onto the Greenway again, taking us back to the Church. 7 miles was walked and it was a very pleasant way of spending 4 hours on a Saturday.

Thank you to all who sponsored us - we raised £400!
