Midsomer Norton is a small country
town about 14 miles south of Bristol and Bath. It is situated on the edge of
the Mendips and is near some beautiful countryside.
The Methodist Church stands in the middle of the town in the High Street. It
has a prime position and as such is very well situated to try and meet the needs
of the local community and the surrounding areas. We are a welcoming church,
we try to make every one feel very much at home as they come amongst us to worship
or to share in the other activities of the church.
It is part of our mission to try and hold together different strands and varieties
of worship, in order that no one will feel left out. We are aware that peoples
needs are not now met just by traditional services, hence our very successful
Breakfast Praise services, in which both young and old share.
As a Christian community we want to use our excellent premises to the full,
this will enable the church to reach out to other people. Hence we are always
looking for ways to expand our extensive community programme we realise that
the church must serve young and old.
We also wish to encourage every person to bring and use those gifts that God
has given them in the mission of the church.
As Methodists we are committed to working ecumenically with our sister churches
in the town and we do share in ecumenical services and events.
If you are in Midsomer Norton then please drop into the church centre and make
yourself known, you will be welcome.
May God bless you.
David W. Watson.
